New Sticky Tape Film that Retains Water Droplets as Roses Do
Have you ever noticed that roses’ petals are able to stop the drops of dew on a vertical surface? And even if you turn the rose upside down? A team of researchers from the University of Sydney in Australia has succeeded, through biomimicry, to create a new material reproducing this feature. The team of Dr. Andrew Telford designed a nanostructure composed of molecules resembling raspberries.
This “sticky tape” will have many applications like reducing condensation in airplane cabins and enabling certain medical tests without the need for high tech laboratories.
