Japanese company cocoa motors unveiled its WalkCar, an electric skateboard looking like a laptop with wheels and small enough to fit in a bag. Equipped with a lithium-ion battery that requires three hours to recharge, it has a 7.5 miles (12 km) range.
Weighing 6.6 pounds (3 kg), it can take loads of up to 265 pounds (120 kg), even in steep inclines, and reach a top-speed of 6.2 miles/h (10 km/h). Right between the skateboard and the Segway, the WalkCar works by shifting weight around and stops simply by stepping off it.
Technical details are not communicated yet, but we already know that it would cost around US$800. A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign will start in October 2015, for those that would be interested in this new kind of transport.
