Solar Paper, A New Actor in Solar Chargers’ Market
Solar chargers are expanding more and more, but a newbie is about to disrupt the market, just a few days after it was launched.
Created by YOLK, Solar Paper is now the world’s thinniest – paper thin – and lightest solar charger.
Solar Paper measures 9 x 19 x 1.1 cm (3.5 x 7.5 x 0.4 in) and weighs 120 g (4.2 oz). It can fully charge an iPhone 6 in about 2.5 hours, when competitors achieve it about 5 hours.
Water resistant, it only has one USB port accepting pretty much all devices (smartphones, tablets, walkie talkies, flashlights, portable game consoles, cameras, videos cameras and rechargeable batteries).
Solid embedded magnets allow you to mount Solar Paper to metal objects.
Last but not the least, you can easily expand your solar charge by adding more solar panels to your Solar Paper.
YOLK’s Kickstarter campaign began on July, 7th and was such a success that they raised the $50,000 needed in the first 2 days! They have since convinced 2270 contributors and received over $320,000!
That should enable them to ship the first Solar Papers batch in September 2015.
